Trim, Painting Doors, Paint Entire Interior of House

We took these pictures March 18th. After FINALLY deciding what color to paint the house, I decided I never want to look at a magazine, paint chip, test quart, color book, or paint book again. We had seen an entire house in UT done in a sage green and loved it, but felt like we needed to play it more 'safe' since we know we are selling the house in a year or so. We didn't want to go to dark or to light, and by the time we HAD to decide, I didn't care anymore, I just wanted the color picked so Dustin and Joel could start painting. So we went with a Beige color for the main house, 2 rooms/storage room "garden green", 2 rooms a dark brown, and the master a darker beige!

This is the storage room and 1 bedroom.

Taping off the trim before the room is painted.

And yes that is all one color....It is just interesting how the light from the windows change the beige color.

Upstairs Living Room.

Joel taped in a closet and a bedroom spraying.

Doors painted white, then covered so the guys could paint the rooms.

Getting ready to paint....again.

Kitchen/Dining Room.

Master Bedroom. "Piano room" still isn't done. Dustin will be putting some kind of waynes coating on the bottom then spraying it a gloss white.

Bathroom/Bedroom.

In WY we cut the corners of the trim to match the rest of the trim. We saw this idea and decided to try something different!

Joel Painting Outside Of The House

We had a hard time deciding what color to paint the outside of the house. We bought 3 tester quarts and didn't like any of the colors. That night Dustin was driving around town and saw a house that he liked. It was something different and looked like a custom home. We asked the owners and through the paint store we got the same colors. Joel (our brother-in-law) took off 2 weeks of work to come help us paint. He was a HUGE help. We never would have gotten this far without his help....plus he did a great job on all the painting. We are grateful he came up to help us paint and grateful for this wife, Celeste, for holding down the fort at home while he came up to help us paint. Thanks guys!

This is the house we saw and liked the look of it....for all of you that are curious what we saw and ran with.

Dustin Texturing the Ceilings

Our first idea for texture was we wanted a texture like my sister, Becky has in her home. It is a texture they put all over the walls and the ceilings and we see it a lot in AZ. This texturing crew had no idea how to do it, even after we sent them pictures through email. They said they have never seen a house with that kind of texture. They said that a lady in Seattle knew how to do it and would bring a crew over and do it and teach this crew how to texture the walls like we wanted. Once this guy mentioned "Seattle" we knew that we were talking about more $$$ if they had to have someone come over to texture, plus we didn't have the time. So we went with a very light texture on the walls. Then we tried to explain this texture (in the pictures) that we had in WY and they had no clue how to do it either. They wanted to do their own texture and for the price he quoted us it was for only 3 ceilings in the entire house. So we bagged their ideas and Dustin, Joel (our brother-in-law), and Delbert (a ward member), helped us texture all the ceilings in the entire house. We figured we saved at least $1000, plus we got all the ceilings done, not just 3. Dustin watched the crew do the ceilings in Evanston, WY, so he had no problem doing it in this house. It is hard to see the true texture in these pictures but we loved how it turned out and loved saving the $$!

Sheetrock....Done

The 2-3 sheetrock guys came on February 23rd to hang sheetrock. They started on Monday and they were done by Thurday. It was amazing to see it hung that fast. In WY, Dustin, with the help of family hung the sheetrock and it took FOREVER! We will never hang sheetrock again. It is worth the money to pay someone and to have it done in 4 days. Next....Taping, Sanding, and Texturing.

Ceiling in Master Bedroom. I thought Dustin did a good job.....for his first ceiling like this.
